Greek Hazelnut Brioche Recalled Over Safety Concerns
The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) has issued a recall for a popular Greek pastry, "Tsoureki with Hazelnut Praline - Small Mountain Farms", produced for MARKET IN. The affected batch carries Lot 066A1 and a best-before date of May 21, 2025, with a net weight of 480g. Reason for Recall Laboratory tests revealed that the product contains coumarin above legally permitted levels. While coumarin is a naturally occurring compound, it has been associated with potential liver toxicity and carcinogenic effects, prompting EFET to classify the batch as unsafe for consumption.
