Greek Unemployment Falls to 8.2% in September
Greece's unemployment rate dropped to 8.2% in Sept. 2025, according to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). The figure marks a notable improvement from 9.7% a year earlier and matches the upwardly revised 8.2% recorded in Aug. The number of employed persons reached 4,326,322, representing a 1.4% increase (or 59,086 more people) compared with Sept. 2024. However, employment dipped slightly by 0.5% (23,597 fewer people) relative to Aug.2025. Unemployment figures also showed steady progress. The total number of jobseekers fell to 385,804-a decrease of 70,449 people, or 15.4%, from the same month last year, and marginally down by 384 individuals compared to Aug. Meanwhile, the number of people outside the labor force-those under 75 who neither work nor seek employment-stood at 3,031,831.
