Two arrested for illegal pet trade in Agia Paraskevi; 27 dogs and οther animals rescued
A 42-year-old foreign national and a 45-year-old Greek woman were arrested on Wednesday in Agia Paraskevi, accused of involvement in the illegal pet trade. Three more individuals, including a veterinarian, have been identified and are currently wanted. According to the Hellenic Police, the suspects were illegally breeding and trading companion animals, in violation of animal welfare regulations. Using a pet supply and service shop in Gerakas as a front, the suspects reportedly carried out illegal sales of companion animals. They had posted over 86 advertisements for pets on a well-known online platform. After reaching agreements with prospective buyers regarding price and location, the arrested individuals allegedly arranged the transport and delivery of the animals.
