Wolves are being removed from Parnitha by a prosecutor's decision to protect red deer
In a crucial decision for the balance of the Parnitha ecosystem, the Animal Protection Prosecutor has ordered the removal of wolves living on the mountain, as part of a broader investigation that is underway. The decision was taken in collaboration with animal welfare organizations and competent state bodies and aims to preserve the population of red deer - a protected species that is an important element of Parnitha's biodiversity. The implementation of the order has been assigned to the Parnitha Forestry Office, which is called upon to ensure the transfer of the wolves to mountainous areas of northern Greece.
